The Last Mile: Keys, Access, Ownership, and Moving In

Final Walk-Through Inspection

The final walk-through happens the day before or the day of closing. This is your last opportunity to confirm the property is exactly as you agreed upon. Check that all systems are operational, no new damage has occurred, no extra items have been left behind, and that everything included in the sale remains at the property.

Home Services and Utilities

Get ahead of the curve. Research local service providers, compare rates, and make arrangements to activate utilities immediately after closing. The goal is when the keys are in your hand, the lights turn on, the water runs, and the systems are fully operational. Preparation is your advantage handle the details early to ensure a seamless move-in.

Closing

Closing day is where every step comes together contracts signed, funds transferred, and ownership officially changing hands. This is the final stage were precision matters most. You’ll review and sign the settlement statement, which outlines the complete financial breakdown of the transaction. If you’re financing, you’ll also sign the lender’s closing documents. Any funds you’re bringing must be wired directly to the title company’s escrow account or delivered as a certified check in the exact amount shown on the settlement statement. At the table, you’ll receive keys, access codes, and any final property details. Once the documents are signed and funds are released, the property is yours.

Congratulations on closing the deal and securing one of the most important investments you’ll ever make. This is more than just real estate. It’s a defining milestone that secures your equity, your vision, and your future.
